Parent Pay - Important Information for Reception - Y2

Reception and Year 1 parents: please check the form we have sent home with your child about free school meals. Even though your child receives a free meal anyway, if the government is aware that you would be entitled to free school meals, they will add £1,300 to our budget, you will also be entitled to free school milk. . For every child who is entitled to free school meals we will give you a free sweatshirt! Please read the form and complete it if you think you might be entitled.

Lateness/ Absences / Holidays During Term - Time

Being late to school is not acceptable!  All children must be in the playground 5 minutes before the whistle blows/doors open.  No child should need to come in late through the office unless under extreme circumstances.  Traffic cannot be used as a reason for lateness on a regular basis – families who live a distance away from school need to adjust the time they leave home to ensure they are here on time.  Our free Breakfast Service is open from 8am every day in The Studio for early arrivers.  Children who have been late several times already this term have received letters.  If your child continues to be late we will ask you to come to a meeting to discuss ways of improving your child’s punctuality. If this doesn’t improve your child’s punctuality a referral will be made to the Education Welfare Office at the Civic Centre.   Every child has a legal right to a full education – getting them to school on time is every parent’s responsibility.

If you child is off school sick we expect parents to phone before 9.30am on the first day of their child is absence.  If a parent fails to phone they will be sent a text to the mobile number you have given to us.  If a child is absent and their absence has not been explained within 5 days your child will received an unauthorised absence on our school system.

Do we have your current mobile number?  Do we have the most recent number for the emergency contacts that you have provided?  Check with Mrs Patel at the office if you are not sure.

Hoildays during Term-time

Following Government and Hounslow Borough guidelines, we are not able to authorise any time off for term-time holiday for any child during term time. Please do not book any holidays unless they are in school holiday time. As school staff, we are very aware that holidays are much cheaper in term time but it is important that children are in school every day.

Has your child got a problem with another child in school?

If your child tells you about a problem with another child in school and you think it is serious or going to affect your child’s happiness in school, please do not hesitate to talk to your child’s class teacher. Please do not speak directly to the other child’s parents. Things that happen in school should be sorted out in school. It is not worth adults ‘falling out’ over children’s issues. The children make friends again very quickly, it takes adults longer to get over things!

Parent Volunteers

Our curriculum at Green Dragon is fully enhance by school trips/visits and we often need parent/carer support on these trips. If parents/carers agree to accompany the trip but then cannot attend, it is essential that the school is informed at the earliest convenience. Trips could be seriously affected or even cancelled if the correct staff/pupil ratios are not correct.

Smoking Outside School

If you chose to smoke outside school please stand well away from the gate.  Many parents do not want their child to walk through cigarettes smoke on the way in to their school.  Please also make sure that you put cigarettes out and then throw the butt into the bin.  This week a small child picked up a cigarette that was still alight from the pavement outside school.

Toys in School

In recent weeks we have seen an increase in children bringing in personal belongings into school. These include a number of toys and, most recently, football cards. Unfortunately these are now having an impact on learning time and will no longer be allowed in school. Thank you for your cooperation.
