Key Message board

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have enjoyed another fantastic week here at Green Dragon. Thankyou for your continued support with the COVID precautionary measures at school. Please make sure you continue to socially distance from other family groups when coming into school and please keep us up to date in the office of any family member who has displayed COVID like symptoms. It is vital to help that you do not send your child to school if they or any family member are displaying any COVID symptoms.

Research from around the world shows there have been far fewer confirmed cases of COVID-19 disease in children than adults (children consistently make up 1-5% of total case numbers in reports). The infection also appears to be milder in children than adults, and student to student spread is far rarer than adult to adult spread.

When we are informed of a positive case we undertake a thorough risk assessment with Public Health and then identify the ‘close contacts’ of the pupil. If your child is a ‘close contact’ you will be informed and then that child will be required to self-isolate for a period of time. Siblings do not need to self-isolate and should come to school. The period of time for self-isolation varies depending when symptoms first started or when there was a positive result in an asymptomatic case. Self-isolation only affects the close contacts which we can track easily because the children are kept in separate bubbles throughout the day in school.  We also have additional cleaning and handwashing which also helps prevent the likelihood of anyone else getting Covid. If you have any questions about any of our measures please ask.

Because the spread of Covid amongst children is rare and children are safer in school the government has asked schools to remain open during this second lockdown. This means it is a legal requirement to attend school. If children are not at school without an authorised reason we will be following our non-attendance procedures.   If you have concerns please talk to us.

This week is Anti-Bullying week. Bullying is rare in Green Dragon, pupils in our school behave well and show respect to each other. We expect all of our children to show kindness to each other.   In addition, in assembly the children talked about what bullying is, different types of bullying and what to do if they saw bullying or suffered from it.

Parent consultation
Open Evening is different this term.  You should have received a letter/email about this. Please contact the class teacher if you haven’t through the curriculum email.  Teachers will be sending you back an appointment time on their day for the consultations in due course.  The timetable for the meetings are on page 2, this will enable the teachers to manage their time efficiently and also coordinate sibling appointments more easily.  Thank you for your support.

Have a lovely weekend.
