Admissions Arrangements

We are community primary school with a nursery offering education to children from 3 to 11 years. Our school is an inclusive school and we are firmly committed to serving the needs of all the children in our local community. The London Borough of Hounslow sets our admissions policy.

PRIMARY SCHOOL ADMISSIONS

  • Morning and Afternoon Nursery

When can my child start in a school nursery?

If your child is born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 they can start in the nursery class of one of our schools in September 2025.

Please read our Starting Nursery Class in a Hounslow School September 2025 brochure

Your application must go directly to the school, not to Hounslow Council.

You can apply to more than one school but must send each school an individual application form. A list of schools and their contact details

Click on this l,ink to : See a list of open days.

    • Any queries regarding open days should be referred to the school directly.
    • If your child has an Education Health and Care Plan (ECHP), (Opens in new tab) this application process does not apply to you.
    • To discuss the arrangements for your child, contact the SEN team on 020 8583 2672 or email SEN@hounslow.gov.uk.
    • All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to up to 15 hours of early education each week for 38 weeks of the year.
    • Education in a school nursery is not compulsory and it may not be possible for every child to secure a place. An alternative to a school nursery class is 15 hours a week of early education in a private Day nursery, Preschool playgroup or with a Childminder. If your child already has a place at one of these providers, you can keep them there until they start reception class the following September.
    • Working families who meet certain eligibility criteria can also claim an additional 15 hours of funded early education a week, 30 hours in total.

  • Reception Classes

The school admits 30 children to each of our reception classes (60 in total). Please note that children, including siblings, who are already attending our nursery need to apply for a reception place directly to the Local Authority. There is no automatic right of admission from Nursery to the main primary school. Parents of children in the nursery are strongly encouraged to apply for a place in a reception class, but places will be offered according to the strict application of our admissions criteria.

Children are normally admitted to the reception classes at the beginning of the Autumn Term.

If we are oversubscribed (our maximum intake is 60 places), the London Borough of Hounslow Admissions Section will allocate places using the following criteria. These are listed in priority order:

    • Children in public care (those looked after by a local authority under section 22 of the Children Act 1989).
    • Children who have an exceptional medical, social or educational need that requires their attendance at a particular school
    • Children who have siblings already attending the school
    • Children living closest to Green Dragon Primary School.

Submitting a late application greatly reduces the chance of a child getting a place at one of their preferred schools.  Late applications will only be processed after the first allocation of places to on-time applicants on 17 April 2025.    It would be fantastic if we could achieve 100% of ‘on-time’ applications, for all nursery  on roll at our school as of 15 January 2025.

  • Transfers

When parents move into the area or wish to change their child's school, they should contact The London Borough of Hounslow, for an application form and who will advise them whether a place is available in a particular year group.

If a place is available, the family will be invited to visit the school. The family will be shown around the school and asked to complete a number of information forms.

Where parents or carers are planning to remove their child from the school, the head teacher should be informed. Information about the child will then be passed on to the new school.

When children are in Year 6, preparations will begin for their transfer to secondary school. Please click here to be directed to The London Borough of Hounslow Secondary Schools Admissions site.

All secondary schools will hold open evenings /days when you can visit the schools before making your application.
