Nelson is a cavapoo dog which is a cross between two breeds - a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and a poodle. Cavaliers are known for being gentle and affectionate, and poodles for their intelligence and love of fun! With this mix it means that Nelson has hypoallergenic fur so he is unlikely to cause any allergic reactions.
Nelson is now twenty one months old and this is his second year at Green Dragon. He comes to school two days a week and walks in each morning so mostly sleeps until breaktime. He then spends his break out on the field playing, on the lead, with some of his Year 6 friends. After that, it's another nap until lunchtime! Nelson usually goes for a walk and has some quiet time during his lunch so that he is relaxed for the afternoon.
Nelson absolutely loves being around children - he is very affectionate and will always wait for them to approach him first if he doesn't know them. He is always happy to meet new people in the playground at the beginning and end of each day so please do come over and say hello!

Supporting Children's Emotional Well-Being
As a school, we are continuing to work with the local authority and external agencies to access advice and support for our families. Useful links and advice to help adults with caring responsibilities look after the mental health and well-being of children and young people, including those with additional needs and disabilities, will continue be added to this page over time.
At Green Dragon Primary School the emotional well-being of children is of the greatest importance. We understand that during these challenging times lots of children may be struggling with their emotions. Regardless of their age, this may be a difficult time for children and young people. Some may react immediately, while others may show signs of difficulty later on. How a child or young person reacts can vary according to their age, how they understand information and communicate, their previous experiences, and how they typically cope with stress. Adverse reactions may include thinking about their health or that of family and friends, fear, avoidance, problems sleeping, or physical symptoms such as stomach ache. You may find some of the resources on this page and from the 'relaxkids' calm pack, useful. Why not read 'Everybody Worries Sometimes' with your child to help reassure them that it is OK to feel worried and encourage them to share worries with adults who can help.
